BFW provides a wide variety of legal services related to professional responsibility for those who practice law, including:
- Defending attorneys in attorney discipline matters, ranging from the preparation of responses to requests for investigations to representation at trial and on appeal.
- Representing attorneys seeking reinstatement or readmission to the practice of law following suspension or disbarment or transfer to disability inactive status
- Advising lawyers and law firms as outside ethics counsel, including advice concerning conflicts of interest, law firm break-ups, and difficult relations with clients, other lawyers and judges
- Serving as a consulting or testifying expert witness in cases involving legal ethics issues, including attorney fee disputes, disqualification, and client relations
- Providing opinions on matters of legal ethics with respect to future conduct contemplated by the attorney
- Representing lawyers in fee disputes against clients or other lawyers
- Miscellaneous other services including representation and advice in matters involving unauthorized practice of law, bar admission and limited admission to practice in individual cases or for individual clients
