Jane (“Janie”) Cox is a Shareholder at Burns, Figa & Will.  Her practice emphasizes legal ethics, attorney discipline defense, regulatory and administrative matters, and ethics issues in government.

Prior to joining Burns, Figa & Will, Janie worked in the Trial Division of the Office of Attorney Regulation Counsel, investigating and prosecuting matters involving attorney misconduct, the unauthorized practice of law, and admission to the practice of law. Her prior private practice experience included work at two boutique family law firms.

Janie is originally from Champaign, Illinois, and also lived in Florida and California before permanently relocating to Colorado in 2003.  In her free time, Janie enjoys travel, music, and  great food, appreciates art and architecture, and spends as much time as possible with her husband and two dogs.

Professional Activities
Janie is a member of the Denver Bar Association, Arapahoe County Bar Association, Colorado Women’s Bar Association and the Douglas-Elbert Bar Association. She was awarded Outstanding Young Lawyer by the Douglas-Elbert Bar Association in 2013.

Janie serves as a member of the Colorado Bar Association Ethics Committee, as well as a member of the Colorado Bar Association Board of Governors.

During her time at the Office of Attorney Regulation Counsel, Janie was a member of the faculty of the office-sponsored Ethics School, presenting material regarding trust account management and ancillary issues five times per year, and she also co-taught the office-sponsored Trust Account School, also offered five times per year.

Janie served as a coach for the Douglas County High School mock trial program for eight years, and remains active in judging and assisting other regions with the annual mock trial tournament.
