Mr. Cohen devotes his practice to all aspects of tax, business, estate planning, and the related administration of estates and trusts. He represents clients in connection with preparation of wills, trusts, powers of attorney, lifetime gifting plans, family partnerships, charitable trusts, business succession plans, life insurance trusts, and other tax favored planning opportunities. His background in rural Nebraska allows him to understand and counsel farmers, ranchers and their families concerning their business organizations, succession plans, real estate matters and conservation easement transactions. He acts as an advocate and counselor in tax, probate, guardianship, conservatorship, and elder law matters.

He represents clients in audits, appeals and negotiations with state and federal taxing authorities regarding income, estate, sales and use taxes. He enjoys advising clients in the creation and growth of closely held businesses as well as public and private charitable organizations and foundations.

Member of the Rocky Mountain Estate Planning Counsel, Denver Bar Association, American Bar Association, He was honored as the “Best of the Bar” attorney in the area of Trusts and Estates by vote of the legal community in the Denver Metropolitan area and holds the highest peer rating of “AV” issued by Martindale Hubbell. He is a member of the Rocky Mountain Estate Planning Counsel. Mr. Cohen is a founding member of the Board of Directors of the Food Bank of the Rockies Endowment Fund and frequently provides pro bono services to other charitable, educational and religious organizations in Colorado.

Mr. Cohen has lectured on estate and income tax topics to various groups, including the ABA Probate and Property Section, the Taxation and Probate Sections of the Colorado Bar Association, the Centennial Estate Planning Counsel, Rocky Mountain Estate Planning Counsel, the Kansas State University Agricultural Extension Program, and Colorado Free University.
